🥂Celebrating one month as a podcaster

Launching a podcast has been a dream of mine for several years but until recently, it seemed impossible to pull off. Lucky for me, Tonya has years of experience with podcast launches, marketing and hosting (she even co-hosted a cooking show sponsored by a local farm over a decade ago).

When Tonya laid out her marketing plan for the show, I trusted her to know what she was talking about.

However, when she told me that much of the initial excitement for the show would come from our existing communities, I wasn’t convinced.

I work with busy business owners. Women hire me because there aren’t enough hours in the days and they need help making their businesses sustainable. It was hard for me to imagine my ideal client as someone who would (or could) take time to listen to a 30-minute business podcast.

And yet here we are, celebrating one month of The Business You Really Want with numbers that defy expectations.

According to stats provided by our podcast host, The Business You Really Want has been downloaded 308 times by 192 individuals.

I’m amazed 192 real, live humans have listened to Tonya and I talk about the realities of sustainable success for women in business. And the download count means they’ve listened to more than one episode, too!

Even more than that, we have 8 Apple reviews and 24 YouTube subscribers. These numbers show that we’re creating a buzz in our little corner of the business world, but I know we aren’t doing this alone.

All of this attention on the podcast is a credit to YOU. You have shown up to listen, to review, to tell your friends, and to share within your networks.

Because of your support, we’re making a difference for business owners.

Though we can’t track everyone who has helped to spread the word about the show, I do know about the following supporters of our launch:

  • Arianne Foulks mentioned it under Interesting Clickables in the Aeolidia newsletter.
  • Copywriter Jaime Blair shared it on LinkedIn and in her newsletter.
  • Mary Williams of Sensible Woo gave us a shout out in her Merry Mag.
  • Debbie Floyd of Dances with Wool shared it to her Instagram Stories.
  • Attorney Carmen Ramirez shared on Facebook.

A Gift For You

You deserve special recognition as a super-listener (and launch supporter)! To recognize your support, our team has created this handy badge for you to share on social media or anywhere you’d like to recommend the podcast.

The first month, of course, is just the beginning. Your continued support makes a difference. Here is what would be most helpful right now:

  1. Reviewing the show on Apple, Spotify, or Goodpods
  2. Subscribing to the show on your favorite podcast player
  3. Subscribing to our YouTube channel
  4. Commenting on your favorite episodes on YouTube
  5. Recommending the show to women in your personal and professional network.

And if you’re socially savvy, please tag both Tonya and I in your posts about the show. Tonya is great at amplifying content (she’s @tonyakubo on almost every platform you can think of), and you can count on me to personally respond to posts on Facebook and LinkedIn.

Here's to building the business you really want!

Reader — This week’s question is one I find myself asking people with a team: are you sure you have the right person in the right place? The truth is, good people and the right fit are not necessarily the same thing. As our businesses transform over time, roles change along with the associated skills and behaviors. Has loyalty led you to keep working with good people who are no longer a right fit for the job/role they are filling? Who would you hire if you were filling each position for the...

Reader — A quick reminder of what we’re doing here, since these Thursday emails are new: instead of sending you more information (because frankly, you’re past that), I’m sending you one REALLY good question to help you get you into your CEO brain, challenge your assumptions, and break through confusion and indecision. My question for you this week is: are you delegating things you shouldn’t? Common wisdom says that we should delegate or outsource all lower-level tasks. But there are often a...

Reader — I’ve been working on a project recently behind the scenes that has helped me to fully appreciate the value of really good questions. Don’t get me wrong. I’ve always been a fan of good questions. One of the reasons I adore having Tonya on my team is because she’s full of them. And my clients often say the same about me. But what I’ve come to appreciate recently is how a really good question at the right time can change everything about how you think and feel about your business. With...
